Have Magento modules built
by experts

Sometimes Magento doesn't offer what you need out of the box business process requires. And sometimes it offers an existing extension 80% of what you need, but that The last 20% is exactly The element that makes all the difference. Factor Blue builds custom Magento modules for the functionality that doesn’t exist yet.

//01 — When do you need your own Magento module ?

Sometimes a module doesn’t quite meet your needs.

The Magento marketplace offers thousands of extensions, and there are many other providers. For common functionality—such as payment providers, search integrations, and loyalty programs—that’s the right place to start. But business processes are rarely standard. The way your customers place orders, how your ERP handles orders, and which pricing logic applies to each customer group—these details vary slightly for every business.

A custom Magento module is the best choice if an existing extension doesn’t offer the desired functionality, if integrations with internal systems aren’t compatible, or if you want to rely on your own code rather than a third-party’s update cycle.

We always provide honest advice on whether customizing an existing extension is the better route or whether it makes more sense to build something from scratch.

Our work is supported by a strong network of technical partners, complemented by expertise in e-commerce and technology that we continuously develop and refine.

//02 — What modules do we build?

The four types of modules we build most often.

Every module starts with a specific business need. Below are the four types we most frequently work on—sometimes as standalone projects, sometimes as part of a larger initiative.

Customer Portal & My Account

Extensions to the standard Magento “My Account” environment: order history with ERP data, invoice downloads, user manuals, RMA requests, budget overviews, or purchase dashboards for B2B customers.

B2B functionality

Functionality for business ordering processes: such as a customized account setup process, customer-specific order limits, sub-accounts per purchasing group, fast order entry via CSV uploads or item numbers, and integration with specific processes or systems.

Pricing Logic & Business Rules

Complex pricing structures that standard Magento pricing rules cannot handle: tiered pricing by customer group, time-limited promotions with specific terms, second-chance offers, bundle discounts, and prices retrieved in real time from an ERP or external system.

Complex front-end modules

Product configuration, advanced filters, mega menus, product page extensions, and other frontend components built on Alpine.js so they work seamlessly on the Hyvä stack and don’t compromise your store’s performance.

Why choose Factor Blue for Magento modules?

Specifications Before Code

We start by drafting a technical specification. This prevents the scope from expanding halfway through the project and ensures you don’t end up paying for work that wasn’t requested.

15 years of industry expertise

We know the ins and outs: large product catalogs, pricing and inventory logic for B2B and B2C, and data that has to be accurate. You don’t need to explain your market to us.

Direct communication, no interference

You’ll work directly with the developers. Honest feedback, clear agreements, and no surprises down the road.

Not just a time-billing agency, but a partnership

We help shape the roadmap, not just address today’s issues. Code that grows with your business instead of getting in your way later on.

//05 — Customer Feedback

Real customer experiences

Choosing a new technical partner isn’t something you do lightly. That’s why we let our clients and partners share their experiences working with us.

TELL US WHAT'S GOING ON

We’re the technical team that lies awake at night worrying about your uptime, your performance, and your next steps. Not as a contractor. Not as a supplier. But as the people who have just as much at stake in your success as you do.

You tell us what’s going on; we’ll tell you what we see.

//07 — Our Approach

From the initial consultation to
a fully functional module

01.

Discovery

We don’t start with code—we start with understanding. What do you want to achieve? How does your current process work? And are there existing solutions that come close enough? We provide honest advice, even if that means narrowing the scope.

02.

Design & Planning

Based on the analysis, we draft a specification detailing what the module does, how it integrates with Magento, which edge cases are handled, and how the module is tested. You approve this before a single line of code is written.

03.

Development & Testing

Our team works in sprints. You can track progress, communicate with the team weekly, provide feedback, and always know where we stand. Testing is a standard part of our process—not something we do at the very end when it’s too late.

04.

Launch

We ensure a careful and controlled go-live process, including training for your team and comprehensive documentation. You won’t go live and then be left to fend for yourself. We remain involved even after delivery.

05.

Management & Further Development

After delivery, you can manage the module yourself or entrust it to us. In that case, we’ll ensure compatibility with Magento updates, Hyvä version upgrades, and adjustments if your business logic changes.

//08 — Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions
about Magento modules

Frequently Asked Questions. Can’t find your question here? We’d be happy to answer it personally.

01. How long does it take to build a Magento module?

Developing a simple module typically takes 2 to 4 weeks. More complex modules—such as a complete B2B order flow with approval logic, checkout customizations, and Hyvä frontend—take 6 to 12 weeks.

Factor Blue always draws up a technical specification before any code is written. This provides a realistic estimate of time and costs upfront, with no surprises halfway through the project.

Yes. By default, we build the frontend components of modules using Alpine.js, the JavaScript layer of the Hyvä stack.

This ensures your Hyvä store remains fast, even with custom modules. Are you using an existing third-party extension that doesn’t yet have a Hyvä frontend? In that case, we can also build a separate Hyvä-compatible frontend module to complement it.

When no existing extension offers the desired functionality, when integrations with internal systems are specific, or when you don’t want to be dependent on the update cycle and decisions of an external extension developer.

Sometimes, an existing extension with a minor modification is the smartest approach, and that’s what we recommend. We always strive to find the best balance between development time, maintainability, and cost.

The module we build for you belongs to you. You’ll receive the full source code, with no license fees and no dependency on Factor Blue.

You can have the module managed by us or by another team—the code is well-documented and transferable.

In some cases, we offer an alternative model: co-investment. If a module isn’t specific enough for a single company, we can co-invest in its development. Factor Blue will then cover a portion of the development costs, you pay less, and we retain the right to use the module for other clients as well.

The result is the same: a well-built module that works for you. The only difference is that the investment is lower. We’ll discuss whether a module qualifies for co-investment during the analysis.
