02. How long does a Hyvä migration take?
An average migration to Hyvä takes 6 to 12 weeks. The turnaround time depends on three factors: the number of custom templates in the existing store, the number of third-party modules that need to be checked for Hyvä compatibility and potentially modified, and the complexity of the store’s functionality.
Factor Blue always assesses these factors in advance, so you receive a realistic estimate of time and costs before the project begins.
During a migration, the database, products, and customer data remain completely intact; only the front end is updated.
03. Do Magento extensions also work with Hyvä?
Not all Magento extensions are compatible with Hyvä by default. Most popular extensions now have a Hyvä-compatible frontend module available, including payment providers, search solutions, loyalty programs, and most major e-commerce extensions.
For less commonly used or older modules, this is sometimes not yet the case. During a migration or new implementation, Factor Blue assesses which extensions you’re using and whether any compatibility work is needed.
In some cases, an alternative extension is available; in others, we build a Hyvä front-end module for the existing extension.

The cost of Hyvä development varies depending on the scope. Migrating an existing theme to Hyvä typically starts between €8,000 and €10,000, depending on the number of custom templates and the module compatibility work required.

06. Why choose Hyvä over a headless or PWA solution?
Hyvä and headless/PWA are two different solutions to the performance issues of standard Magento.
Headless and PWA solutions, such as Adobe Commerce PWA Studio or Vue Storefront, solve the speed issue by completely decoupling the front end from Magento. This provides maximum flexibility but also entails significantly higher development and maintenance costs. Extension integrations, payment providers, and other integrations are complex and costly in a headless architecture.
Hyvä takes a pragmatic middle ground: a modern, fast front end that remains within the Magento architecture. This makes implementing extensions, integrations, and customizations much easier.
For the vast majority of Magento online stores, Hyvä offers better value for money than a full headless implementation.
